As a lifelong bad sleeper, I think what people mean when they say that they “love sleeping” is that they feel fantastic *after* a good night’s sleep. For me, that feeling is elusive but when it happens I treasure it. So I would interpret it as “I love having slept well.”

Why hasn’t evolution fixed the “leaky” energy production process, thus negating the fundamental need for sleep? I would think that would unlock a significant survival advantage.
