As much as Nolan can do whatever he wants with his films and his money, much of the criticism of the film is valid, for the sake of freedom of expression. There is also the sense that the allegedly "woke" casting decisions were cynically made to appeal to the Academy for awards season.

Just think they’d be singing a different tune if they were sitting down with Nolan. Personally, I think he is an artist who is devoted to his craft in a very singular way.
