As much as Nolan can do whatever he wants with his films and his money, much of the criticism of the film is valid, for the sake of freedom of expression. Some of the other articles I have read have criticized the color pallet of the film for being too monochrome--Greeks of all periods valuing color in apparel and architecture. There is also the sense that the allegedly "woke" casting decisions were cynically made to appeal to the Academy for awards season.
